Year 5

Wow – the children in this group have been exploring computers and looking at the parts inside a computer today.  The insides were a little dusty but the components were fascinating to explore.

Year 5 have been trying additive sculpture with clay. They had to research some local breeds of farm livestock and sketch them. Today they have started making their models. The proportion was quite tricky to get right. Coat texture and expression were fun to show. We will paint and varnish them next week.

This afternoon we have held our interhouse timestables challenge.  Each house was represented by a pupil from Year 3-6.  The children took part in individual rounds and group rounds with some challenging questions.  Each round was against the clock.  Congratulations to Middleton who won this year with a very impressive score. The chidlren have been learning about Mardis Gras in French and have been celebrating Shrove Tuesday. The chidlren ate crepes and learned the langauge associated with this time.  Afterwards the children then made Mardi Gras masks. The learned that Mardis Gras meant ‘fat Tuesday’.

Felicity, our class rabbit, has had her babies during our English lesson today! It was naughty of her not to have them in Science really, but we will forgive her! There are four babies, so we hope she enjoys the peace and quiet of the weekend and they are safe and well on Monday. We […]

Charlie Barry from our class has qualified for the National Schools XC running competition. Despite some ‘physicals’ he persevered and finished really strongly in 6th position.
