Number bonds and systematical working

In Year 1, we bring together lots of Maths strategies to help us solve problems.  We continue to do lots of practical Maths but also become proficient at recording our Maths and even using systematical strategies.

Here we were challenged to find all the different ways to make 20.  Some of us used the part part whole model to calculate different ways; some of us used the bar method; and some of used tens frames and counters.

We are taught Maths in a structure way but then we have opportunities to apply our Maths skills in our play.

We are super mathematicians!
