After reading a nonfiction book called Ice Maker, Ice Breaker in Guided Reading, a group of Year 2s were keen to follow instructions and try out an experiment. We had lots of questions to ask: Will it sink or will it float? How long will it take to melt? What does it feel like? How do penguins walk on ice? Where did it go? Can we do it again?
