Year 5 and The Carnival of the Animals

As a finale to their topic about Animals, Year 5 have been listening to and appraising the Carnival of the Animals, composed in February 1886 by a French composer called Camille Saint – Saens. They had to try and identify which instruments were playing and how the animals were portrayed. After that they were asked to create their own musical score, with different animals. As a group, they then then performed it to the rest of the class, using a selection of chosen instruments. It was great fun and a wonderful end to a half-term packed with hard work!
